Halfway through my daily walk in the park, I usually stop at a little café, near a playground I used to play in as a child. Recently, I was sitting with a warm cup of coffee when I noticed a little girl in bright rubber boots stepping in and out of a muddy puddle.
She was completely absorbed. Each splash seemed to delight her. Water flew into the air, and she watched with wide-eyed curiosity.
Her mother stood nearby, watching with a quiet smile.
A few minutes later, another mother was helping her young son learn to ride a bicycle without training wheels—with a helmet, luckily. She jogged alongside him, offering encouragement while keeping an eye on a sleeping baby in a pushchair.
