Mindfulness and Compassion Conference, March 8

This day-long conference focuses on the connections between mindfulness, compassion, and research, with keynote speaker Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Seats have sold out for the conference, but registration is open for the webcast. Register for The Science of a Meaningful Life: Practicing Mindfulness & Compassion.

The Greater Good Science Center, in partnership with Mindful, presents this one-day conference that bridges the growing movement around mindfulness and compassion with scientific research.

This day-long conference supports the mindfulness movement by fuelling it with science. Researchers studying mindfulness—including keynote Jon Kabat-Zinn—will talk about how to apply the latest findings to daily life, and mindfulness practitioners will practice research-tested mindfulness and compassion techniques.

The event program includes:

  • Presentations by the GGSC’s Dacher Keltner on the neuro-psychology of mindfulness and compassion;
  • Kristin Neff on the connection between mindfulness and self-compassion; Shauna Shapiro on the “pro-social” effects of mindfulness; and Paul Gilbert on Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT);
  • Breakout sessions that offer first-hand experience with powerful mindfulness and compassion practices tested by research, including Dr. Neff’s self-compassion practice and Stanford University’s Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT);
  • “Stories from the field”—a panel of leaders who have successfully applied the science to the real world, creating programs that foster mindfulness and compassion in schools, workplaces, health care, and beyond.
