“The best camera is the one you have with you,” says photographer Terry Bell. Although his trade often calls for it, Bell doesn’t like to be weighed down with bags of equipment and lenses. “But it doesn’t stop me from seeing things” and snapping a photo.
For Bell, observing things and taking photos is a meditative experience.
“It’s just a wonderful way to stay focused,” he says. “To take good pictures, you have to train yourself to see, you have to look. And you have to be somewhere else other than yourself. It pulls me outside of me.”
