Bill Duane: Mindfulness Practitioners Need Community

In order to effectively start a mindful workplace, Bill Duane believes in creating a supportive community and space.

In this clip, Bill Duane, a senior manager at Google in charge of programs to help employees’ well-being, talks about how a supportive community is needed in order to actually get people to start practicing.

Duane uses the example that telling people how to exercise then saying, “Go do it,” without a gym or support, is not going to be effective in getting people to start exercising, and the same is true for practicing mindfulness and meditation.
