B. PIORO

When did you first start practicing mindfulness and why were you motivated to do so?

Jon Kabat-Zinn's book, Wherever You Go There You Are was my introduction to mindfulness and it inspired me to learn more about what it is and further develop my practice.

Did you take a class? If so, what sort of class did you take?

I later took a class called Awakening Mindfulness at my local yoga studio and it helped deepen my understanding of mindfulness.

How has mindfulness made a difference in your life?

Being in the present moment has helped me notice and appreciate the little everyday things in life, which are incredibly important but often overlooked. It's really helped me to slow down.

What do you do for your livelihood (ex: homemaker, teacher, firefighter) and does your practice of mindfulness affect that?

I am an admin assistant and this can sometimes be a very stressful job. Being mindful helps me counter that stress by concentrating more on what's happening than what could happen.

Is there anything else you would want people to know about mindfulness and you?

Being mindful is not always easy, but it's always worth the effort.
