Webinar: Contemplative Pedagogies in Geosciences

On January 25, the Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education will present a webinar given by Jill Schneiderman, Professor of Earth Sciences at Vasar College.

In this webinar, Professor Schneiderman will give examples of different types of contemplative practices that she has used in a variety of geoscience courses. She's used these techniques in courses ranging from introductory earth science to seminars on environmental justice.

Earth science content that has proven suitable for illumination with contemplative techniques includes geologic time, chemical and physical weathering, and characteristics for distinguishing different mineral groups.

Professor Schneiderman will also describe techniques that have been useful in environmental justice seminars to support students' explorations of environmental and social justice problems, which can be overwhelming.

Questions may be submitted via chat during the webinar. For more information and to register, click here. The post-webinar video be posted here
