Next time you walk, notice each foot as it meets the ground and as you lift it and swing it. No need to look down. Don't bump anyone.
The Center for Contemplative Mind in Society works to integrate contemplative awareness into contemporary life in order to help create a more just, compassionate, reflective, and sustainable society.
Contemplative practices include meditation, body disciplines, spiritual disciplines, and a wide variety of contemplative arts. The center believes these practices help individuals regain balance and calm in the midst of challenging circumstances. This state of calm centeredness then provides effective stress reduction and can also help address concerns about meaning, values, and spirit. Contemplative practices can also help people develop greater empathy and communication skills, improve focus and concentration, reduce stress and enhance creativity. The center is grounded in the belief that contemplative awareness can assist individuals and groups in identifying the root causes of social problems and finding creative approaches to eliminating them. The center works in program areas—higher education, social justice, law, business, research and philanthropy—that explore and promote the effectiveness of contemplative practices.
