Liza Dalby is an anthropologist specializing in Japanese culture. Her 1983 book, Geisha, was based on her experiences conducting fieldwork among these traditional entertainers. Her most recent book, East Wind Melts the Ice, is a memoir of the form of essays about Eastern and Western culture and seasonal sensibilities.
